🏦 expense tracker

Modern developer is making life easier on any occasion. That is why, the organization of notes and automation are so often mentioned in this newsletter.

Uncontrolled expenses can lead to a disaster or some leakage of cash, why not have a clean flow of saving an expense?

What we need:

  • notion db for expenses,
  • Apple shortcut,
  • GPT API.

Let’s focus on shortcuts,

add expense shortcut

By default, it is possible to use the function to extract text from photos. It allows to take a photo of the receipt and get in the background the data of the receipt.

Then, using a correct prompt, we can pass it to GPT API and extract the amount and category of an expense.

At the end, data are updated to notion.

In the next newsletter, I will post a link to the shortcut, it is still under development.

“You want to be creative? ….create, every day”

Creating content on social media can seem like very difficult stuff. Potentially wasted hours on posts and videos can lead to failure and zero engagement, it could be a deterrent.

However, the increase in creativity, wide network, and possible offers you can get are unlimited. That is why it is beneficial to create professional content.

I have used Canva for more than 2 years and it is no secret that this tool is incredibly easy to usage and efficient. You can create Instagram posts from everywhere with just a smartphone.

Canva offers a lot of templates for every kind of content or even docs and presentations.

I have even created a CV in Canva.

Check it out canva here:

However, this newsletter will be focused on using Elevenlabs as a voice generator and combining it with a video editor in Canva.

My latest videos are made in above mentioned way.

The scope looks like:

  • I paid 1$ for the pro version of Elevenlabs

https://elevenlabs.io/,

  • generated my own voice by sending 1 min recordings of me speaking,
  • Writing transcript with AI support, correcting it with Grammarly,
  • Downloading audio,
  • Passing audio to Canva,
  • Adding screenshots from the code editor and some memes,
  • Video ready
synthesis of my voice
canva video editor mode with audio from elevenlabs

The result boosted reach and views. Quite interesting content and inspiration to do more. I had problems with recording tutorials cause it took managing a lot of free time, being alone in a flat, adjusting the lights camera, etc.

Now I can generate better content from everywhere. See the results below:

🎙️ Podcast of the week

Sleep expert reveals how to optimize your brain with these simple hacks | Matthew Walker:

📕 Book of the week

This book written by Tim Ferris is a classic for every entrepreneur. Literally, everyone should read it, however, I want to introduce the course the author is showing:

How to Create Your Own Real-World MBA

How to Create Your Own Real-World MBA - The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
The most important characteristic of my personal MBA: I planned on “losing” $120,000.

It is not needed to attend expensive classes at Harvard to be really good in finances like with an MBA graduation. You can make yourself such a course, follow these practices.

What about the entrepreneurship course?

I am thinking about describing something similar for digital entrepreneurs.

For example, you have targets, like:

  • make a digital product and post it for free,
  • Achieve 10 downloads,
  • Get one client,
  • Hire one person,
  • Etc.

Why to not have single steps that are very easy? Let’s experiment with this.
